The Touch Bar on MacBook Pro gives you quick access to commands on your Mac, and changes automatically based on what you’re doing and which apps you’re using. Find system controls and settings in the Control Strip
I don't want to be a party pooper here but the play/stop button is already there, on the right part. And I don't get why you don't use the whole part of the touch bar allowed to app. I expect Spotify to take more benefit, the iTunes use for example is really good and beautiful, expect it lacks animations. Tap to play/pause. How many playlists can you make on free spotify. Flick left/right to go to the previous/next song. Long tap to show Muse Bar controls. If you’re using Spotify, you’ll be asked to sign in to be able to like songs. There’s no server side logic, everything runs on your Mac.
When you start up your MacBook Pro, the Control Strip on the right side of the Touch Bar shows a few familiar buttons like volume, mute, and display brightness, as well as Siri. In many apps, like Finder, Mail, and Safari, you can customize the Touch Bar.

The accessibility features that help you use your Mac can also help you use the Touch Bar. Hold the Command key while you press Touch ID (power button) three times to toggle VoiceOver, which reads aloud Touch Bar commands.
